The Agenzia Nazionale Stampa Associata (ANSA) is the leading wire service in Italy, and one of the leaders among world news agencies. ANSA is a not-for-profit cooperative, whose members and owners are 36 leading news organizations in Italy. Its mission is the distribution of fair and objective news reporting.
==History==
In January 1945, three representatives of the major political forces of the Italian Resistance, Giuseppe Liverani, managing director of The People, First Parrini, managing director of Avanti !, and Amerigo Terenzi, CEO of the publishing company of the Unit, advanced l ' possibility to organize a news agency as a cooperative of newspapers, not controlled by the government and even private groups, replacing the work of the agency Stefani, moved to Milan to meet the information needs of the Italian Social Republic. The proposal had the approval from the Allied military authorities who, a few months later, favored the success of the new agency by closing the Italian NNU (acronym for the United Nations News), the agency created by the Allies in the Italian language and operating in Italy. Italy joined the initiative now free, Voice Republican and Liberal Risorgimento, preparing a local fortune via Moretto and unofficially entrusting the direction of Renato Mieli. The 15 January 1945 came the first publication of the NSA, in the form of a news release and distributed in the city of Rome. After a few weeks the ANSA settled in the structure of the agency Stefani, in Propaganda.
